A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.
Albert Einstein
I thought I 'd change things up a little and go with an Albert Einstein quote. There is a very obvious similarity between this new quote and my usual Zig Ziglars and it doesn't have a thing to do with anything with how deep it is. If you guessed that it was the shortness of the quote that appealed to me, you'd be correct!
Basically the quote's essence is that exploration is where mistakes are made. It's only through exploration that we'll grow.
The day was spent working on various assignments.
I liked your quote from Einstein. We can't make mistakes if don't do something first. How are you doing with the technology blog and the internet tools? What about the Language Arts conference project? Any news on that?
ReplyDeleteThat is true, when my students make mistakes I tell them, "Hey, it's not the end of the world if you make a mistake, it doesn't mean you're dumb and just give up and stop trying. It means that you just need more practice and if you still don't get it you practice some more. It's normal to be scared or intimidated when there's something new but we just have to tackle those challenges." I have been using that short speech mostly during my math periods because I have seen too many students resort to cheating or just plain give up until a relatively easy lesson starts. I try my best to let them understand that we need mistakes to get better at something.
