"It is not what is poured into a student that counts but what is planted." -Linda Conway
The concept of "pouring" does not give the sense of permanency but rather of flowing and dissipation. Planting, on the other hand is more permanent implying that rooting will take place and something will flourish. If, as teachers we don't take the time or have the interest to really engage our students in learning, we will be like water being poured over them. But if we take the time to nurture with appropriate lessons, strategies, and attention, then we are like gardeners who nurture the plant with the right food to make it grow.
I really enjoyed the presentations tonight. Everyone had great lesson ideas with very good resources and activities. I would love to see these lessons actually being implemented. More than that, I would like to know that classroom teachers are really using the course management systems. I would, however, still like to be able to know how to maximize the use of the features of the CMSs like Hotchalk or Rcampus. Although Hotchalk was the easiest for me to manipulate, I particularly like Rcampus capability of uploading pictures and other visuals.

I totally agree, it's not how you teach that counts, but what the student learned from you. For a teacher to reach out and motivate the student to learn something is a reward in itself!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mar. This is the best perk of being a teacher, the gratification you get when you know you turned their light bulbs on.
ReplyDeleteI too would like to see a CMS fully integrated as well. In fact, I would love it if I could fully integrate mine with my students. The only problem is that I would need internet access during class time :(
ReplyDeleteI love your quote Faye! Very true! Sorry I missed your presentation but may I please have your educational websites if you don't mind. Thanks!
